Talkin’ Car Prices with Bozi! - S2. Ep18.

The market is nuts!

Bozi Bjelcic sold cars for years, we sat down and he gave some great insight into the market and what he predicts is going to happen over the next few years. We took some great statistics from Car Gurus and Classics. We talked about overpriced cars, cars on the cusp of breaking out and bargains! Check out the list below:

Overpriced list:

350z Nismo - low sold May 2019 ($5775) - high price May 2021 ($27548) - these are coming up in price at an incredible rate, communities have been pushing prices higher and cashing out

Chevy C/K 1500 90-95 - these are a dime a dozen in the southern states yet guys are willing to pay premiums for these trucks lately. Pushed by the aftermarket support and custom car scene these once $1500 trucks are now trading in the $15-$20K for a high mileage example

Honda S2000 - buyers looking for an imported, reliable, convertible, rear wheel drive do not have many options and it shows. The S2000 rev’ed to an insane high only matted by higher end luxury super cars these are now becoming instant classics. You can’t get a clean model for under $25K.

Chevy SS 4-door - LS3 pushing 415hp is nothing to blink at however only coming in an automatic and an exterior that looks like the run of the mill Impala doesn’t scream high performance. Similar cars like the CTS-V come with a supercharged LSA pushing 556hp and can be had for $10K less.

Any RHD Skyline - Americans can now get their hands on them and even with the 30 year old + technology buyers are willing to pay for the name.

Any full sized Toyota - Toyota’s hold their value like any other, add on the lack of new Toyotas in the market and you’ve got a perfect storm for inflation. Comp’s over the past year are up 40%

The tweener list - cars that are on the cusp of breaking out!

Civic SI EM1 (99-00) - Prices for these 2 years ago were changing hands for 8-10K for a clean used model. Since the outbreak of unmolested low mileage cars that have been put up for auction lately, owners now think they are sitting on a gold mine…and asking prices are showing it. These are not overwhelmingly fast but they are nostalgic and becoming harder to find in original condition.

Mazd RX-7 3rd Gen - Rotary motor, great looks and the Fast and Furious phenomenon has made these a classic that only the brave drive around. The rotary while unique is a known weak point and unreliable. Kits now allow owners to swap in various more powerful and reliable drive trains in while keeping the cool looks. These are swapping now at an average of $30K.

TransAM WS6 4th Gen - 325hp, LS powered and 0-60 in under 5 sec with an unmistakenly 90s design these are trading in the low $30’s for extremely clean low mileage models. Great alternative to Corvette, and you’ll be the only one at the car show with one!

Mustang 5.0 (89-92) - drag race guys have known about this platform for years and now with the autocross phenomenon the road racers do too! A ton of aftermarket support and some cool swaps that can be done these are a dime a dozen and can be had for about $16K for great examples.

Bargain List

Acura RSX Type S - K20, high reving, manual transmission with reliability for days makes this one of my favorite cars regardless of the price. The wonderful styling and fantastic noise when the 2.0L hits VTEC makes this $13K average priced car a bargain! Just be on the lookout for the modded and driven hard models.

C6 Corvette - pure American muscle, LS3, stick, rear wheel drive doesn’t get a whole lot better. With many of these owners babying these cars a clean model for around $26K for an 05’ and $47K for a 13’ model gives you the options for a street and track monster. Plus you’ll you can wear your New Balances and jorts and fit right in with the Corvette club!

Ford Mustang 2011 - Coyote 5.0 pushing 412hp can be had for around $17K, doesn’t get any better for a bang for your buck option.

Infinity G35 05-07 - These specific years had the “high rev” optioned motor, build on the exact platform as the 350z, its harder to get a naturally aspirated, RWD, manual, luxury car for the price these are trading for. You can pick up one now for around $7,200-$18K

Mercedes C63 AMG W204 2011-on - 6.2L V8 posing 480hp and gobs of torque these can run 0-60 in less than 3.9sec and sound like a proper muscle car doing it. You’ll want the 2011 and on model due to the head bolt recall in the prior years. Comps are under $40K for great used models.

BMW M3 (92-13) - pretty much any M3 is going to be a bargain from the multiple car of the year winner. You really can’t go wrong with any model as the HP continues to get higher and handling better as the years go on. All except a 2013 can be had for under $35K.

Sleeper List

2008 Honda Civic SI Mugen - 1000 made for the US market, not too many changes were made other than aero parts, but for under $15K you can get one of the rarer Civics every produced for the US market.

2012 Golf R - hot hatches live on! An average of $19K can get you 256hp and a fantastic suspension with room to carry stuff!

Mazda Speed 3 - for the 2010 plus this hot hatch can be had in the lower teens and higher mileage models under $10K

Deep Sleep List

1974-77 GM Cars (Malibu, Nova etc…) If you haven’t seen what customizers and even GM are doing with these forgotten cars then you need to go online and do some research! Malibus right now average around $4000 with the best examples only running you $14K.

Cutlass 5th Gen 77-88 - G-bodies have been quietly drag raced for years, the aftermarket is now supporting these in the autocross space as well. These forgotten Monte Carlo brothers can be traded for under $1K and for $27,500 for the limited edition models
